Payra seaport to open Monday

Patuakhali Correspondent: Payra seaport, the country`s third seaport, is expected to be launched its operations formally on Monday through unloading stones for the construction project of Padma Bridge.

The commercial ship MV Fortune Bird will reach with 53 thousand tones of stones at the outer anchorage of Ramnabad Channel on Sunday, sources said.

Capt. Saydur Rahman, Acting Chairman of Payra seaport, said, "The seaport authority has already taken all preparations to start the operations as the commercial ship MV Fortune Bird is expected to reach at the outer anchorage of Ramnabad Channel within Sunday night.

Several more foreign ships will also reach at the port very soon, he added.

On November 19, 2013, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina opened Paira seaport situated at the Rabnabad Channel in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali district.
