Probe report submitted over tea-seller`s death

Staff Correspondent: One of the two probe committees formed to investigate into the death of tea-seller Babul Matubbor in Mirpur of Dhaka has submitted its report, accusing four policemen in the incident.


Maruf Hossain Sordar, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed the submission on Sunday evening.


Maruf Hossain said, "The two committees were formed to investigate into the death of tea-seller Babul Matubbor. One of the committees headed by Tutul Chakrabarty (DMP headquarters) submitted its report, accusing four policemen of ‘negligence of duty’ in the incident. The other committee is yet to submit its report".


Babul Matubbor died from burns on Thursday at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital hours after police allegedly assaulted him, causing an oil spill from a stove, in Dhaka’s Shah Ali area.
