Review after full verdict: Defence

Staff Correspondent: A review petition will be filled after getting the Supreme Court`s full verdict copy, Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, defence lawyer of the death-row war criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, has said.

The President of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) said this at the SCBA office on Wednesday morning in his immediate reaction after the SC delivered verdict of the BNP leader`s appeal.

“Earlier, the tribunal handed down punishment upon false testimony,” said Khandaker Mahbub Hossain at a post-verdict press briefing.  “The Appellate Division has upheld his (SQ Chowdhury) death penalty,” he said.

Earlier in the day, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court upheld a war tribunal’s death sentence to SQ Chowdhury for committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
