River vessel strike: Talks end without solution

Staff Correspondent: The meeting held between the government officials and launch owners ended without any fruitful result.

However, Director of Labour Department SM Ashrafuzzaman claimed that several steps had been taken at the meeting to resolve the crisis.  

The meeting to discuss the issue of river vessel strike enforced by workers began around 10.30am on Thursday at Labour Department and ended at 1.00pm.

 
Director of Labour Department SM Ashrafuzzaman, Joint Secretary Aminul Islam, President of Launch Owners Association Mahbub Uddin, Senior Vice President Badruzzaman Badal, Advisor Golam Kibria Tipu and other leaders are attending the meeting.

The river vessel workers have gone on a strike for indefinite period to press home their four-point demand.

According to sources, the labour ministry will hold a meeting next Friday.
