`SC verdict on SQ Chy`s appeal relieves nation`

Secretariat Correspondent: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque has said that the family members of the victims as well as the nation have been relieved from the trauma as the apex court upheld war criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury`s death penalty.  

The minister came up with the remark in an immediate reaction after the Supreme Court (SC) upheld the death penalty for the BNP leader on Wednesday noon.

"Now, Salauddin Quader will get a 15-day time for review and then the hearing in this regard will be held," he said.

Earlier in the day, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court upheld a war tribunal’s death sentence to SQ Chowdhury for committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
