Sedition case against Ramya for ‘Pakistan is not hell’ remark

Actor-turned-politician Ramya

Risingbd Desk: Actor-turned-politician Ramya, who has been trolled on social media for her ‘Pakistan is not hell’ remark, is now facing a private complaint in a Somwarpet court and a postcard campaign in Mysuru.

Advocate K. Vittal Gowda filed a private complaint under Section 200 of Cr.Pc in the first JMFC court in Somwarpet on Monday, accusing Ramya of “insulting India” and “provoking the people of India” by “appreciating Pakistan, which is a traditional enemy of India.”

The complainant urged the court to register a case against the actor under Sections 124A of the IPC, which deals with sedition, besides other charges.

Judge Shyam Prakash posted the hearing of the case to August 27.

Meanwhile, activists of Yuva Bharat, a pro-BJP organisation in Mysuru, launched a postcard campaign urging Ms. Ramya to “shift to Pakistan”.
