Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed

Secretariat Correspondent: Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have agreed to sign a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) boost the bi-lateral trade and commercial activities between the two countries.

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed made the disclosure while addressing media at his secretariat on Sunday.

Earlier, Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Yasoja Gunasekera met the commerce minister Tofail Ahmed.

After the meeting, Tofail Ahmed said there is a huge potentiality of Bangladeshi papers, pharmaceuticals and potato export in Sri Lanka. But, tax complexity is a barrier in this regard.

He also said Bangladesh exported goods worth Tk 30,450,000 to Sri Lanka in last fiscal year. Besides, the country imported goods worth Tk 45,000,000 from the neighboring country.
