Search body to recommend by 10 working days

Staff Correspondent: A six-member search committee to reconstitute the next Election Commission has been formed with Supreme Court’s Appellate Division judge Syed Mahmud Hossain in the head.

The search committee will submit recommendations to the President by next 10 working days.

A gazette notification released by the cabinet division has confirmed the matter on Wednesday evening.

The other members of the committee are: Obaidul Hassan, a High Court division judge, Masud Ahmed, Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of Bangladesh, Dr Muhammed Sadique, Chairman of Bangladesh Public Service Commission, Syed Manzoorul Islam, Professor of English Department of Dhaka University, and Shireen Akhter, pro-vice chancellor of Chittagong University.

Earlier, President Abdul Hamid formed the search committee and sent it to the cabinet division for publishing a gazette notification in this regard.
