Suspected dacoit killed in Jhenaidah ‘gunfight `

Jhenaidah Correspondent: A suspected dacoit has been killed in a gunfight with police in the district’s Moheshpur.

The deceased could not be identified immediately.

The gunfight took place at around 3.00am on Saturday. Police recovered two shutter guns, five rounds of bullets, three cocktails and some native weapons.

Jhenaidah Additional Police Supper Ajbahar Ali said a gang of dacoits were taking preparations to commit robbery. Acting on tip off, a team of police conducted a drive there. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, dacoits began to fire forcing the policemen to back fire that triggered a gunfight.

One dacoit died on the spot and others managed to flee from the spot, he also said.
