MP Liton murder: Main suspect among 2 held

Staff Correspondent: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has held Ashraful and his associate Zahirul, the main suspects of the ruling party lawmaker Manzurul Islam Liton murder.

RAB nabbed them from the capital's Badda area on Wednesday night.

Ashraful is son of Sundarganj Upazila Jamaat Amir Haji Younus.

Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, Senior Assistant Director of RAB (Legal and Media wing), confirmed the news on Thursday.

Gaibandha-1 Constituency lawmaker Manzurul Islam Liton was shot at his own residence of the district's Sundarganj Upazila on December 31, 2016. Later, he succumbed at Rangpur Medical College and Hospital on the day.

Liton's sister Tahmida Bulbul filed a case against 4/5 unknown assailants with Sundarganj Police Station in this connection.

Earlier, several more suspects were also held in the case.
