Hawker stabbed dead in capital

Staff Correspondent: A hawker has been stabbed dead and another injured during an altercation with a fellow at Chandni Chowk market in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Khokon Mollah, 30, a resident of Kamrangirchar and used to sell clothes on a foot over-bridge in New Market area. The injured was Babul Patwary, 40, also a hawker.

Sources said a hawker named Shahabuddin beat Khokon Mollah and Babul Patwary mercilessly following an altercation at Chandni Chowk market in the capital around 3:00pm, leaving the duo critically injured.

Later, the duo was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition where duty doctor declared Khokon Mollah dead.

Police are yet to arrest Shahabuddin in this connection.
