War crime accused Amjad Ali dies

Staff Correspondent: Amjad Ali, one of the war crime accused, has died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Friday afternoon.

The duty doctor declared him dead around 5.00pm on the day.

The Central Jail sources said that Amjad Ali was admitted into the hospital on August 27.

Earlier on August 12, 2015, two war crimes case accused and four policemen were injured as the police van carrying them collided head-on with a bus in the district.

The accident took place on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in front of the second gate of Bhawal National Park.

The two were- Amjad Ali and Riaz Uddin Fakir, who were arrested from Phulbaria area of Mymensingh for their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity, were injured in the accident.

The injured policemen were Mehedi, Wasim, Nuruddin and Mustafiz.

Gazipur Naoijor highway police outpost in-charge Sergeant Baharul Islam said the van was heading toward Dhaka with the two accused from Mymensingh.
