Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina

Staff Correspondent: "We do not want to control country`s media, we want to see their strengths in Bangladesh," says Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister made the comment while addressing an Iftar party organized by Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) at the National Press Club in the capital, this evening.

While speaking in the programme she also urged to all sections of journalists to maintain neutrality and to be vocal against terrorism, militancy, smuggling and drugs in the country.

"We want neutrality from you," Sheikh Hasina, also the ruling Awami League President, expressed her hope in the programme.

Pointing to the formation of the media policy she clarified, "We will make media policy as everything will have to be run on the basis of a policy so that the society is not polluted."

The Prime Minister at that time also informed about her AL government tenures` separate development projects in the country.

Separate advisors to the Prime Minister, BFUJ President Manzurul Ahsan Bulbul, PM`s Media Advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, DUJ President Altaf Mahmud, Jatiya Press Club President Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman and General Secretary Qamrul Islam Chowdhury, DUJ General Secretary Quddus Afrad and some other journalist`s leaders were also present, among others, in the programme.
