`Women dishonored in parliament`

Staff Correspondent: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Monday alleged, "The country`s women are now being dishonored in the national parliament."

The former premier made the allegation while addressing an iftar programme organised by Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh, in a hotel in the capital, this evening.

While addressing in the programme, she also alleged, "HM Ershad termed women as show piece in the parliament recently while 50 percent of the total population are women."

"We want an exclusive election in the country soon," added the BNP Chief.

 


She also claimed, "The Awami League-led ruling government could not bring democracy in the country as they could not respect the countrymen."

In her brief speech, in the iftar programme, she also assured, "The ruling Awami League-led government has destroyed the country`s democracy."

Nazrul Islam Khan, Shirin Sultana, Tabith Awal and some other party leaders and activists were also present, among others, in the programme, on the day.
