Khadiza to undergo fresh surgery Monday

Staff Correspondent: Doctors on Monday are expected to conduct surgeries on the head and left arm of Khadiza Begum Nargis who was repeatedly hacked by a Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) man in Sylhet early October.

Quoting physicians, her brother Shahin Ahmed confirmed this on Sunday morning.

He said, "Khadiza will undergo a surgery at her left arm and the head as well. The surgery to be conducted at head is called "Cranioplasty". Both surgeries are very important for her recovery."

"Khadiza`s condition is improving gradually. The left part of her body is responding more than ever before. She can now move slowly," he added.

Her father Masuk Mia said Khadiza is recovering day by day. She can now recognise all and speak now and then. She is also being given soft meals as doctors advised.

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) unit of the ruling Awami League-backed student body Chhatra League assistant general secretary Badrul Alam hacked Khadiza on October 3 when she came out of her examination hall at Murari Chand College in Sylhet city.

Khadiza was immediately rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital where she underwent first surgery. Later, she was shifted to the Square hospital on October 4.
