‘Police commandos to be able to curb militancy’

Khagrachhari Correspondent: Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque opined that police commandos will be able to curb global problem militancy.

The IGP made the opinion while addressing a programme at Police Battalion (APBN) and specialised training centre in Khagrachhari district on Saturday.

He said that the incumbent government is working to modernize police department to face global terrorism and militancy.

AKM Shahidul said, “Militants are using modern weapons to commit crimes. So, the law enforcers are being trained with latest technology and training.”

“Some Bangladesh 40 policemen have returned back taking training from India recently. They will train 44 others in the first course”, he added.

Armed Police Battalion (APBN) and specialised training centre commander Aurangzeb Mahbub presided over the programme where Chittagong Range DIG Shafiqul Islam, Police Headquarter Training and Sports Division Additional DIG Dr Khandakar Mahin Uddin and others attended.
