Staff Correspondent: Awami League general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam does not want to see any controversy over Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“We don’t want any controversy over Bangabandhu in the country. We want everyone gets their due honour,” he said.
Syed Ashraful Islam, also incumbent Minister of Public Administration, made the remarks while addressing a discussion at city’s Suhrawardy Udyan on Tuesday afternoon. Dhaka South City Corporation organised the programme marking the 40th anniversary of martyrdom of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“Those who killed Bangabandhu to erase him did not become successful. Their aim was to erase the contribution of Bangabandhu not merely killing him,” Syed Ashraful Islam added.
He also criticized BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for observing her birthday on August 15, the day of martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu.
