World Mental Health Day today

Staff Correspondent: World Mental Health Day is being observed today (Saturday) in a befitting manner.

This year`s theme of the day is `Dignity in Mental Health`.

Different social, psychiatrists` and psychologists` organisations have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the day.

Dhaka University Clinical Psychology Department, Bangladesh Clinical Psychology Society (BCPS) and Nasirullah Psychotherapy Unit (NPU) are observing the day with elaborate programmes.

Bangladesh Psychiatrist Foundation and Orchid Psychology Research Centre will organize a conference at Public Library auditorium today afternoon.

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu will inaugurate the conference while its organising committee convener Umme Kulsum Koly will present an article styled "Dignity in Mental Health and Psychology Profession".

In a message on the eve of the World Mental Health Day-2015, the President has urged all concerned to play a responsible role for ensuring mental health services for the people at the grassroots level.

The President said mentally sick people are part of this society and it is the responsibility of all to stand beside these people without ignoring them.

He said the concept of health remains incomplete without an adequate understanding of mental health.
