Covid-19 vaccine arrives in Dhaka

20 lakh doses of Oxford Covid-19 vaccine as a gift have arrived from India in the country.

A special flight of India carrying the consignment landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 11:00am.

Initially, the vaccines will be administered at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Kurmitola General Hospital, Mugda General Hospital and Kuwait Maitree Hospital.

Earlier, Health Services Secretary Abdul Mannan told a news conference at the Prime Minister's Office that the vaccine would be tested on January 27 and 28. The vaccine will be administered to 400 to 500 people at the four hospitals. Then we have to wait a week according to the World Health Organization protocol. Vaccination will be given all over the country, he said.

According to an agreement, the first shipment of Covid-19 vaccine will arrive from India on January 25.
