1500 transport workers sued over clash in Sylhet bus terminal

A case has been filed over the clash between two groups of transport workers at Sylhet central bus terminal.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Nur Alam of South Surma Police Station filed the case on Wednesday. Nearly 1500 unknown transport workers were sued in the case.

Khairul Fazal, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of South Surma Police Station, confirmed the news.

Mentionable, a clash reportedly sparked due to a dispute over workers' welfare funds. Several vehicles and counters were vandalised during the clash.

A section of workers had been protesting for the last few days against Selim Ahmed Folik, vice president of Bangladesh road transport workers' federation and president of Sylhet road transport workers' union, accusing him of embezzling Tk2 crore from the workers' welfare funds.
