22 take part in Abrar killing

Some people had taken part in Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Abrar Fahad killing mission. They all are leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) BUET unit.

Of the accused, some beat up Abrar with hock hockey stick, some pressed his mouth with their hands so that nobody can hear screaming from outside.

Detectives came to learn that Abrar was reading in his room of Sher-e-Bangla Hall of BUET on Sunday night. He was called up and taken to room no 2011.

At the very first, BUET BCL unit information and research secretary snatched away Abrar’s mobile phone, showed him up his status posted on Facebook and started to slap him.

Then, they started inhuman torture on Abrar. General secretary Rasel and some of his associates pressed his legs, several beat him up with sticks and some slapped and blew with fists.

It was learnt that Rafat and Monir pressed Abrar’s mouth. So, he could not scream during the torture. At one stage, he became senseless and died. 

Meanwhile, the case filed in this connection was handed over to Detective Branch (DB) for investigation.

On Wednesday noon, Investigation Officer (IO) DB joint commissioner Mahbubur Rahman told risingbd that we came to know not only accused mentioned case statement took part in the killing mission, several others were also involved in the incident. They played different roles in the incident. We found primary information about them. Arrestees will be interrogated to uncover details during remand.

Abrar Fahad, a second-year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering department of Buet, died after he was brutally beaten by BCL men at Sher-e-Bangla Hall of BUET on Sunday night.

The incident triggered a firestorm of protests on campuses across the country. Many took to the social media to demand justice for Abrar.
