5 held for making fake birth certificates

Detectives detained five people in connection with making fake birth documents for getting passports in Zia Complex area of Cox’s Bazar town on Monday night.

The detainees’ are- Mohammad Rashed, 21, son of Abdur Rahim, Mohammad Osman, son of Harun-or-Rashid, Shafiqul Islam, 48, son of Ilias, Md Farhad, son of Syed Karim and Tasin Hossain, 20, son of Shamsul Huda.

District DB police inspector Manash Barua said, a gang was providing fake identity cards and fake birth certificates taking money from Rohingyas. On secret information, the law enforcers detained the five members of the gang.

Meanwhile, three computers, a printer, a scanner and huge number of fake national identity cards and birth certificates were seized from them.
