7 killed as train hits auto-rickshaw in Jamalpur

Jamalpur Correspondent: At least seven people were killed and another was seriously injured as a train hit an auto-rickshaw while crossing the track in Jamalpur on Wednesday evening.

The injured was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital (MMCH).

Nasirul Islam Mazumder, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jamalpur Railyway Police Station, said a Dewanganj-bound local train hit an auto-rickshaw while crossing the track at Chandra area of the district town, leaving three dead on the spot. Later, four succumbed on way to hospital and while undergoing treatment.

The deceased were identified Sanoar Hossain, 38, sweeper of Sadar Police Station, auto-rickshaw driver and resident of Rashidpur village Abdur Rahim, 40, Mir Hossain of Chandra village who died on the spot.

While Entaz Ali, 65, at Jamalpur General Hospital and Hossain Ali of Kompopur, Saleha Begum, 45, and Faridul, 45, breathed last on way to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital.



The seriously injured was identified as Gunu Mia.

Additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Rasel Sabrin visited the spot after the incident.
