6 months needed to restore road communications in Rangamati

Staff Correspondent, Chittagong: Chittagong and Rangamati roads affected by the hillslides may take more than 6 months to become normal, said Roads and Highways Department officials.

The 80-kilometer Rangamati-Chittagong road has collapsed in 35 places. In some places, the whole road has destroyed. In this situation, the army and the Roads and Highways Department have started work to repair the Rangamati-Chittagong road.

Rangamati Road and Highways Department sources said that the hills have collapsed on the 264 kilometers road in 145 places in Rangamati. Apart from this, the road has collapsed in 47 places. Meanwhile, 22 kilometers of road from Ranirhat to Chittagong’s Rangunia was restored till Thursday evening.
