7 artists to get 'Shilpakala Padak'

Secretariat Correspondent: Bangladesh Shipakala Academy (BSA) announced the names of seven renowned artists to be honoured on Thursday (July 20) for ‘Shilpakala Padak-2016’ who contributed in different fields of art.

SM Salauddin, chief of public relations branch of Bangladesh Shipakala Academy, told risingbd.com.

He said like every year, President Abdul Hamid will hand over the Padak among the recipients at 3:00pm on July 20 for their outstanding contribution to the development of drama, music, dance, recitation, photography and painting.

On this occasion, a press conference will be held at the Seminar Room of BSA tomorrow (Tuesday) where details about the winners will be highlighted, he said.

President Abdul Hamid will be present as chief guest in the programme at National Nattyashala auditorium of BSA while Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor as special guest. Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky will deliver inaugural speech while Secretary of Cultural Affairs Minister Ibrahim Hossain Khan will preside over the ceremony.

Each award will consist of a certificate, a medal with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy's name embossed on it, a sash and a cheque for Tk 100,000.

Seven artists who got ‘Shilpakala Padak-2015’ are Saleha Chowdhury (Dance), Nadira Begum (Folklore), Kazi Borhan Uddin (Drama), Sujey Sham (Instrument), Nikhil Sen (Recitation), Syed Abul Bark Alvi (Fine Arts), Mihir Kumar Nandi (Music).
