Floods affect 18 districts, 8 dead

State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Enamur Rahman said, floods hit 18 districts of the country while affected 92 upazilas and 535 unions.

The minister came up with the information while addressing a virtual press briefing from his secretariat on Thursday (July 16).

He said, eight people have so far died in the floods in Jamalpur, Lalmonirhat, Sunamganj, Sylhet and Tangail. Besides, 22 lakh 46 thousands of 8 lakh 87 thousands 376 families are marooned.

Enamur Rahman said, “We hope that this year's flood will not last long as the river water has started receding. And water levels of those rivers rose will also start to reduce within 48 hours."

Meanwhile, Md Mohsin, secretary to the Disaster Management and Relief ministry attended the press conference.
