'AL stands by people in distress'

Bandarban Correspondent: "Awami League stands by people who are in distress. Know those who hold press briefing to talk about distress but never stand by the distressed people," said Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.

The minister came up with the comment on Wednesday while distributing reliefs among the people victimised by dreadful landslides caused by heavy rain.

Quader said Awami League government is the government of people. The government led by Sheikh Hasina always stands by people in every distress and will also keep in touch in future.

At least six people were reported dead and several others injured in Bandarban due to landslides caused by heavy rain for consecutive two days. To stand by the landslide victims, the AL general secretary visited Rangamati on Wednesday and distributed reliefs among them.

During his visit to the area, 20 kg rice was given to each of 531 families of 10 ten shelter centers and TK 20,000 for the family of those killed and Tk 5,000 for the family of those injured in the dreadful landslides caused by heavy rain.

Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, among others, were present at that time.
