AL’s programmes on Bangabandhu’s birth centenary

Awami League (AL) has drawn up programmes to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The programmes includes hoisting of party flags atop all AL offices across the country including Bangabandhu Bhaban and AL’s Bangabandhu Avenue central office at 6 am on March 17, paying homage to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at his portrait at 7:00am.

Besides, a delegation of the party’s central working committee led by AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will pay homage to Bangabandhu by placing a wreath at his mazar (shrine) at Tungipara in Gopalganj and join a doa mahfil there on that day.

Special prayers will be arranged at all religious institutions across the country while orphans and destitute people will be distributed special foods.

Doa and milad mahfil will be held at mosques across the country including Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Johr prayers.

Prayers will be held at Tejagon Church at 8am, Mirpur Baptist Church at 9am, Dhaka International Buddhist Monastery at Merul Badda at 10:00am and Dhakeswari National Temple at 11.30am.

AL Relief and Social Welfare Sub-Committee will distribute foods, clothes and equipments to prevent coronavirus among destitute and orphans on the premises of Azimpur Orphanage at 12:00pm.

Under the initiative of Dhaka City north and south units of AL, orphans and destitute people will be given foods and sweets on the premises of Banani Korail slum and AL’s Bangabandhu Avenue central office at 1pm on March 17.

Identical programmes will be held across the country.

Fireworks show will be arranged and lantern (fanush) will be released at 8:00pm simultaneously across the country including in front of Bangabandhu Bhaban and AL Bangabandhu Avenue central office, Rabindra Sarobar, Hatirjheel, historic Suhrawardy Udyan, Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) on Dhaka University campus and the Jatiya Sangsad.

Besides, AL central office and offices across the country will be illuminated.

Central 14-party leaders and workers will observe a lamp lighting programme on the premises of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 8pm and they will march towards Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi 32 to pay tributes to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at his portrait.

Under the initiative of National Implementation Committee for Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Birth Centenary Celebration, special television programmes will be aired simultaneously at all electronic media in the evening to mark the day.
