BSMMU boundary wall collapse leaves one dead

Staff Correspondent: A person succumbed to injuries as the boundary wall of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital in Dhaka’s Shahbagh area collapsed on Wednesday evening.

The deceased was identified as Parvin Akter.

Confirming the matter, BSMMU Director (Hospital) Brig Gen Md Abdullah-Al-Harun said Parvin died of head injuries around 7:30pm while undergoing treatment at the BSMMU hospital.

The deceased’s body will be handed over to her family after completing all procedures, he said.

It is primarily learnt that Parvin Akter was the cousin of Jahid Rahman, a journalist at the private television channel Rtv.

Earlier, a portion of the boundary wall of the hospital’s C-Block collapsed around evening while it was raining, leaving five people injured.

Among the injured, three pedestrians, one ansar member and a nurse sustained injuries in the incident.
