Baby dies of wrong treatment; 6 arrested

Staff Correspondent, Rangpur: Police have arrested six people in a case filed for a child's death due to alleged wrong treatment at unauthorised VIP General Hospital in Rangpur.

They were arrested conducting a drive early Thursday.

ABM Jahidul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rangpur Kotwali Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said Mimtaz Jahan, two-year-old daughter of Mahamudul Hassan Mridha of the district's Mithapukur upazila, died as doctors mistakenly cut off one her kidneys while undergoing surgery for hernia at VIP General Hospital of the city.

Mahamudul Hassan Mridha, father of the girl, filed a case accusing 11 people of the hospital. Later, police arrested six of them, he added.
