Banani rape case: Shafat, 4 others indicted

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court has framed charges against Ahmed Shafat and four others in a case filed for raping two university girls at a Banani hotel in Dhaka.

Judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 Shafiul Azam today fixed July 24 to start the trial of the case.

Earlier on June 7, Ismat Ara, inspector of women support and investigation centre of Dhaka metropolitan police submitted the charge sheet.

According to the case statement, on March 28, the accused Shafat Ahmed and his friend raped two university girls at a birthday party at The Raintree Dhaka at Banani while three others assisted them. 

Later, on May 6, a victim filed the rape case against with Banani police station accusing Shafat, Shadman Sakif and three others.
