Bandarban landslide missing yet to be rescued

Bandarban Correspondent: The four people missing in Ruman landslide have yet not been rescued on Tuesday, the third-day of the incident.

The incident occurred at Dalian Para on the Bandarban-Ruma road on Sunday.

The four missing are known as as Ruma upazila Postmaster Robiul, Ruma Krishi Bank officer Goutom Nandi, Health Assistant of Ruma Upazila Health Complex Munni Barua, and Ching Mya Sing Marma of Mong Shwe Prue Para of Ruma.

Local sources said the rescue operation is being disrupted amid fear of further landslide in the area due to heavy rain.

Members of the district fire service, Army and the Red Crescent are conducting operations to rescue the missing since the incident.

Meanwhile road communications between Bandarban and other parts of the country snapped yesterday as Bajalia area of Bandarban-Chittagong highway in Chittagong's Satkania went under water due to incessant rain over the last two days.

Rafiq Ullah, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bandarban Sadar Police Station, said the rescue operation continues. The activists engaged in the operation are trying to best to trace the missing out.
