Bangladesh reports 2,617 new Covid-19 cases, 44 deaths

A total of 44 more people died of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths to 3,557 in the country.

Besides, a total of 2,617 more people tested positive for Covid-19 over the same period, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 2,69,115.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release issued on Thursday (August 13).

As many as 1,782 patients have recovered in past 24 hours, the release said.

According to DGHS, a total of 1,54,871 individuals have recovered from the disease so far since Bangladesh recorded its first Covid-19 case on March 8.

2,617 more persons have been found infected with coronavirus infection after carrying out tests on 13,162 samples collected from across the country. The total number of infections has risen to 2,69,115, it said.

So far, a total of 1,315,901 samples have been tested since the coronavirus outbreak in Bangladesh, the press release added.
