Bangladesh reports 2644 new Covid-19 cases, 34 deaths

A total of 34 more people died of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths to 3,635 in the country.

Besides, a total of 2,644 more people tested positive for Covid-19 over the same period, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 2,74,525.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release issued on Saturday (August 15).

As many as 1,012 patients have recovered in past 24 hours, the release said.

According to DGHS, a total of 1,57,635 individuals have recovered from the disease so far since Bangladesh recorded its first Covid-19 case on March 8.

2,644 more persons have been found infected with coronavirus infection after carrying out tests on 13,162 samples collected from across the country. The total number of infections has risen to 2,74,525, it said.

So far, a total of 13,41,648 samples have been tested since the coronavirus outbreak in Bangladesh, the press release added.

Of the dead, 24 are males while 10 females. Of them, 31 died at hospitals while three others breathed their last at homes.

Of the dead, 16 are from Dhaka division, 7 from Chattogram, 1 from Rajshahi, 7 from Khulna, 2 from Sylhet and 1 from Rangpur.
