Bangladesh set to face India today

Sport Desk: Bangladesh will face India in the 2nd Semi-Final of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 today at Edgbaston of Birmingham in England. Bangladesh came to the Semi-Final as runner-up from Group A while India through to the Semi-Final as champion from Group B.

So far Bangladesh and India met 33 times in ODIs. India won 26 of them and Bangladesh won 5 times. Other two matches were abandoned. Bangladesh’s first victory against India came in 2004 where they beat India by 15 runs in a 3 match ODI series at home.

Bangladesh and India played 3 times in ICC World Cup but never played in ICC Champions Trophy. Bangladesh beat India by 5 wickets in 2007 World Cup but lost their next two meetings against India in 2011 and 2015 World Cup. Last time Bangladesh played against India in ODI was back in 2015 at home where Bangladesh sealed their first ever series win against India by 2-1.

Gautam Gambhir scored highest 592 runs from 11 matches between two teams in ODIs. With 517 runs from 18 matches, Mushfiqur Rahim is the highest run scorer for Bangladesh. Mashrafe Bin Mortaza is the leading wicket-taker with 20 wickets from 16 matches while Ajit Agarkar picked up 16 wickets from 8 matches for India.
