Bogra rape: Tufan, two aides on 3-day remand

Bogra Correspondent: A Bogra court has placed the town Sramik League convenor Tufan Sarker and his two aides on a three-day remand in a case filed for raping a female student and torturing her mother.

The two aides are Ali Azam of Chaksutrapur Khaipatti of the town and Rupom of Kalitala.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Bogra Shyam Sundar Roy passed the order on Sunday.

Earlier, Inspector (Operation) Abul Kalam Azad, the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, produced them before the court and sought seven-day remand for each.

Emdad Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bogra Sadar Police Station, confirmed the news on Sunday noon.

He said, "Atikur Rahman, one of the four arrestees of the case, gave confessional statement before the court. So, remand was sought for other three."

Meanwhile Bogra deputy commissioner (DC) Mohammad Nure Alam Siddiqui announced to bear medical expenditure for the victim girl who is undergoing treatment at Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital in Bogra.

A three-member probe committee was formed to investigate into the incident as name of a public representative emerged.
