Bogra rape: Woman councillor Rumki on 4-day remand

Bogra Correspondent: Woman councillor of Bogra municipality Marzia Akter alias Rumki and six others have been placed on a police remand in a case filed for raping a female student and torturing her mother.

A Bogra court has placed Rumki on a four-day remand and six others on a two-day remand when the accused were produced before the court, seeking a seven-day remand to interrogate them.

The accused are woman councillor of Bogra municipality Marzia Akter alias Rumki, her mother Rumi Begum and father Runu, Sramik League convenor Tufan Sarker's wife Asha Begum, aides Munna, Jitu and Jibon.

Amirul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the district Detective Branch (DB), confirmed the news to risingbd.

The victim’s mother Munni Begum filed a rape and torture case against ten people including Tufan, woman councillor Rumki in connection with the incident.

Following the case, police arrested the accused and produced them before the court.

The court placed the town Sramik League convenor Tufan Sarker and his two aides on a three-day remand in the case filed for raping a female student and torturing her mother.

The two aides are Ali Azam of Chaksutrapur Khaipatti of the town and Rupom of Kalitala.
