Bourses to remain closed till May 16

The county's bourses, Dhaka and Chattogram Stock Exchanges, have extended their ongoing closure till May 16 in accordance with extended public holidays declared by the government to contain the transmission of coronavirus.

Md Shafiqur Rahman, DSE's deputy general manager (publication and public relations department), and Tania Begum, public relations officer of the CSE, confirmed the matter on Wednesday (May 6).

The trading and settlement activities on the DSE and CSE will remain closed in line with the extended government holidays, according to the authorities of both the bourses.

However, the DSE has sought permission from the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) for resumption of trading and settlement activities from May 10.

The government has further extended the ongoing shutdown until May 16 as the death toll from COVID-19 and the number of COVID-19 patients keep rising.
