'No compromise with fair polls'

Staff Correspondent, Mymensingh: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said there will be no compromise with anyone for the interest of holding a fair election.

The CEC said this while addressing an inaugural function of voter list update programme at the Advocate Tareq Smriti auditorium in Mymensingh town on Tuesday.

Nurul Huda said, "In the protection of democracy, no compromise will be made with anyone for the interest of holding a fair election. The prerequisite of democracy is to hold election after making a flawless voter list."

Seeking cooperation from all, the CEC firmly said, "We will hold the election following the democratic norms and electoral code of conduct. With a concerted effort from all, we are committed to holding the next general election in a free and fair manner."

The purpose of the Election Commission (EC) is to formulate a flawless voter list and then hold a free and fair election following that list, he said.

He urged those who will be voters to cooperate with giving correct information from their responsibilities.
