Conjoined twins Tofa, Tahura separated

Staff Correspondent: The conjoined twins from Sundarganj of Gaibandha Tofa and Tahura have been separated at the operation theatre in Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Dhaka Medical College child surgery division chief professor Ashraf-ul-Haque Kajal said that the surgery had started around 8:00am on Tuesday. The surgeons completed the initial mission of separating them this noon.

Tofa and Tahura, 10-month-old babies of Shahida Aktar and Raj Mia, were admitted to the hospital under the special care of Dr Shahnur Islam.

They were connected from back to low which is known as 'Pygopagus' in medical term.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital director Brigadier General Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said that the twins were bellow weight. After ten months long treatment and observation the doctors performed today's operation.
