Corona positive doctor saw patients: Probe body formed

A physician who tested positive for coronavirus allegedly saw patients at his private chamber after concealing information.

The gynecology expert is known as Mahmudur Rahman, former professor of Patuakahli Medical College.

A three-member probe body has been formed to investigate into the matter and the local Nova Diagnostic Centre was put under lockdown.

It was learnt that Mahmudur Rahman, concealing the information of being contracted with coronavirus, saw patients at his private chamber of Nova Diagnostic Centre. Many protested the matter after it was leaked. But he was continuing to see patients. At one stage, the district administration and health division were informed. Dr. Mahamudur Rahman was forced to leave the chamber in face of people’s outrage.

Later, a three-member probe body led by Patuakhali Medical College Professor Dr Golam Hossain was formed, according to the district civil surgeon Jahangir Hossain Shipon.

Meanwhile, the Nova Diagnostic Centre was put under lockdown on Saturday.

When asked, Dr Mahmudur Rahman said, ‘I was confirmed of being contracted with coronavirus on Friday. There is nothing wrong with that. I will take responsibility if someone becomes looser by me.’
