DU student commits `suicide` in capital

Staff Correspondent: A student of Dhaka University (DU) allegedly committed suicide in Dhanmondi area of the capital Dhaka early Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Sabit Hasan, 18, a third year student of Computer Science and Engineering Department of the university.

Sabit was a son of Badrul Hasan of Char Damdama village under Ullapara Thana in Sirajganj. Currently he is residing this house (Dhanmondi 7/A) with family members.  

 
Victim’s father said that he spotted the body of Sabit, hanging with a rope and mouth rapping with scotch tape, in the balcony of the house this morning.

The family members rushed Sabit to a local clinic and later, shifted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Selim Reza, a Sub-Inspector (SI) of Dhanmondi Police Station, said, "On information, we rushed to the house but the body had been taken to the DMCH before we reached there."  

The body has been taken to the DMCH morgue for autopsy and details of the matter will be known once the report will come on hand, added the SI.
