'Democracy to be restored defeating AL'

Staff Correspondent, Barisal: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said democracy should be brought back to the country defeating Awami League.

Fakhrul said, "The government has tried to detain numerous BNP leaders and activities filing cases against them in last 10 years. Democracy should be brought back to the country defeating Awami League."

The BNP leader made the comment while addressing a function in Barisal on Tuesday.

He warned that no election in the country will be held under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The government officials are not safe now in the hands of the ruling Awami League. They are being sent to jail when they do not listen to AL leaders. Basically, their aim is to establish a one-party rule in the country, the BNP leader alleged.
