Ershad recites his poem on Pahela Baishakh

Staff Correspondent, DHAKA, Apr 14: Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad recited one of his written poems at a program in the city on Monday marking the celebration of Pahela Baishakh.
Clad with a colorful maroon Panjabi and an off-white Pyjama, Ershad recited the poem ‘Pahela Baishakh and I’.
HM Ershad also spoke at the program organized by Dhaka city (north) unit of Jatiya Party at a community center at Gulshan.
In his speech, HM Ershad asked the party men to revamp the Jatiya Party in the sprint of Pahela Baishakh.
“There was no government holiday on Pahela Baishakh until I declared it in 1987”, Ershad claimed.
He also welcomed the High Court decision making it mandatory to use Bangla in billboards, but again claimed he started it all.
Jatiya Party Secretary General Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu, presidium member Anisul Islam Mahmud and others were present at the program.
