Eve-teasing: Case filed over killing father

Gopalganj Correspondent: A case has been filed over the incident of killing a man who protested against eve-teasing to his daughter in Gopalganj.

Taposhi Rabeya, wife of the deceased Kazi Mahbub, 50, filed the case with Gopalganj Sadar Police Station on Tuesday evening.

Mentioning seven people, four to five others unnamed have been accused in the case.

Md Selim Reza, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station, confirmed the news.

According to the case statement, the complainant avoided the eve-teasing issue. Rather, they alleged of happening the murder over land dispute.

When asked, family members of the deceased denied telling something in this regard.

"Police are conducting operations to arrest the accused. The mystery behind the killing would be clear once any accused is arrested," the OC added.

According to sources, the daughter of Mahabub would always face eve teasing by one Akash and his associates. Akash and his associates attacked Mahabub near his residence at Public Road in the Gopalganj town around on Saturday night.  Seriously injured Mahabub was taken to Khulna Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed on Sunday night.
