Finance Minister rejects CCC's addl allotment plea

KMA Hasnat: Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith has rejected the additional allotment plea of Tk 500 crore for different projects of the Chittagong City Corporation (CCC).

The plea was sent by CCC mayor AJM Nasir Uddin.

Sources said CCC mayor sent a letter to the Finance Minister stating sufferings of the city dwellers during rainy season. In the letter, the mayor sought assistance to increase advantages for the citizens and to remove water logging. He also mentioned several of projects in the letter which will cost around Tk 2.5 thousand crore. Of the amount, the government earlier allotted Tk 2000 crore. So, the mayor sought additional Tk 500 crore referring damages due to rain.

But the Finance Minister has dismissed the plea of CCC mayor, according to sources.

However, the Finance Minister also suggested the mayor to file application through the ministry concerned, the sources said.
