Foreign minister donates 2 ventilators to Shamsuddin Hospital

Foreign Affairs Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen has donated two ventilators to Shahid Shamsuddin Hospital Hospital- Sylhet.

On behalf of Foregin Minister, Awami League’s central committee organising secretaryShafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel handed over the ventilators to the top official of the hospital Brig Gen Md Yunusur Rahman, also director of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, on Friday noon.

Foreign Minister’s personal assistant Shafiul Alam Jewel, Osmani Medical College and Hospital’s deputy director Dr Himangshu Lal Roy, Anesthesia Department’s chief assistant professor Moinul Islam Dalim, resident officer of the hospital Sushanto Kumar Mohapatra among others were present at the moment.

With this, total number of ventilators at Shamsuddin Hospital stood at 16.

Brig Gen Md Yunusur Rahman said, “Ventilators are very important for coronavirus infected patients. There was not ventilator in the hospital. Makeshift Intensive Care (ICU) was set up here with two ventilators donated from Osmani Medical College and Hospital at the very beginning of coronavirus outbreak. Later, government allotted nine ventilators. Now, there are nine ventilators in the hospital.”

A total of 737 coronavirus cases were confirmed in Sylhet till Friday morning. Of them, 23 died and 107 made recovery.
