'Gazipur exploded boiler was out dated'

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: Additional District Magistrate Raihanul Islam, said the boiler in Gazipur, which exploded at an apparel factory on Monday, was outdated.

The last renew date of the boiler was June 24.

An eight member's probe committee headed by Additional District Magistrate Raihanul Islam opined this on Tuesday noon.

He said, "We have started investigation thinking seven points. Boiler inspector told us that the last expiry date of the exploded boiler was June 24. No repair activities took place after the date. We don't think that that was the main reason behind the explosion."

However, investigation is underway in this regard, he added.

At least thirteen people were killed and some 50 others injured in the boiler explosion in Joydebpur upazila of Gazipur on Monday night.
