Govt to train 300,000 drivers

The government has taken an initiative to train three lakh drivers, according to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges.

State-owned Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) was formed in 1961 to ensure safe and comfortable public transport system. The aim of BRTC are- passenger service, goods transportation, development of human resources through training.

Following the continuation of BRTC’s mission, heavy vehicle drivers will be brought under correct licensing providing proper training. A project has been taken to train drivers of heavy vehicles in this regard. The project cost is esteemed Tk977 crore.

BRTC will implement the project by 2025, planning commission sources said.
