HC issues directives to stop rumor, mob lynching

The High Court (HC) has directed authority concerned to take necessary measures to stop the spreading of rumors and mob lynching.

The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman issued five directions in this regard on Sunday.

The directives include –

Each circle officer (ASP) will hold meeting with concerned police station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) regarding the issue after six months gap.

The Home Ministry will continue its campaign programs through electronic media to raise awareness against lynching.

The monitoring of social media sites for provocative or misleading audio, video posts, and taking immediate action, has also been advised.

Advocate Ishrat Hasan moved for the petitioner in the court. She filed the petition on August 26, 2019.
